Bristol Palin’s second stint on “Dancing With the Stars” ended a lot earlier than her first one, as she was eliminated on the fourth results show of the season.
When Bristol competed in Season 11, she stuck around until finale night, placing third in the competition.
Regardless, she and her partner, Mark Ballas, were sent home on Tuesday. Neither looked too surprised; Bristol had been one of the lowest, if not the lowest, vote-getters every week. Plus, there was Bristol’s tear-filled blow-up last week — the writing seemed to be on the wall.
“Aww, Bristol, I hope you’re proud of yourself for making it this far, I know your fans supported you and rallied for you every week,” co-host Brooke Burke Charvet cooed after the results. “But what do you want to say to all the people who doubted you could do this?”
“Well, we did it, we made it to week four, and I’m happy with that, and I had an awesome time, and an awesome partner, and these are just great people, and I wish everyone the best,” Bristol responded, seemingly all in one breath.
After a montage of Bristol’s best moments from the season — and some reaction shots from parents Sarah Palin and Todd Palin in the audience — Bristol and Mark bid farewell.
* The second couple in jeopardy this week was Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. But the two were laughing on stage like they didn’t have a care in the world. What is up with Maks this season? He seems so happy.
* Former “DWTS” Season 9 champion Donny Osmond stopped by to perform a duet with Susan Boyle, one of the most random pairings one could imagine.
* It was a tough night for Bristol and Mark all around — not only were they eliminated, but earlier in the show, they weren’t picked at all for next week’s team dances.
The two top-scoring couples from Monday night, Shawn Johnson/Derek and Gilles Marini/Peta, got to choose couples for the team dance. So, the teams for next week are:
— Dancing to Psy’s “Gangham Style”: Gilles/Peta, Kelly Monaco/Val, Kirstie Alley/Maks, Emmitt Smith/Cheryl
— Dancing to Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe”: Shawn/Derek, Sabrina Bryan/Louis, Melissa Rycroft/Tony, Apolo Anton Ohno/Karina
Before the teams were chosen, we saw all the couples fretting over potentially not being picked.
“I hope we don’t get picked last,” Bristol giggled in her on-camera interview to Mark.
Mark laughed too, then paused. “That could happen,” he said.
