CBS News aims to increase international coverage, hires ABC’s Clarissa Ward as foreign correspondent

Clarissa Ward - ABC News' Moscow Correspondent (DONNA SVENNEVIK - ABC)
Clarissa Ward, the Fox News Channel correspondent turned ABC News correspondent, has joined CBS News as Foreign Correspondent, that division’s chairman Jeff Fager announced Monday.

Ward, who starts with CBS News in December, will have an initial “extensive” assignment in Afghanistan, after which she will be based in London, CBS News said.

Fager said the hire was part of a CBS News push to increase its international news coverage.

Most recently, Ward was the Asia Correspondent for ABC News, based in Beijing. She also spent time in Afghanistan embedded with the Marines in Helmand Province. Ward also served as ABC News’ Moscow Correspondent.

Before joining ABC News, Ward was a correspondent for FNC working out of Beirut and Baghdad.
