Comedy Central to roast Charlie Sheen

The other broadcast networks may be standing down when CBS brings back “Two and a Half Men” for its new season and rids itself of Charlie Sheen’s Charlie Harper character, but Comedy Central sees it as opportunity.

The network announced Tuesday it will air the “Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen” on Sept. 19 at 10 p.m., shortly after the “Two and a Half Men” returns to CBS’s lineup for its first Sheen-less season, and starring Ashton Kutcher.

“Charlie has assured us that nothing will be off limits in this Roast… which scares even us,” said Kent Alterman, Comedy Central head of original programming and production.

The roast will tape a week earlier in Los Angeles.

Warner Bros. TV, which produces “Two and a Half Men,” and which sacked Sheen, is a division of Time Warner. Comedy Central, on the other hand, is owned by Viacom.
