CW orders more ‘Arrow,’ ‘Vampire,’ ‘Supernatural’

CW jumped into early-pickup season with both feet on Monday, announcing it has ordered a second season of “Arrow,” a fifth of “Vampire Diaries” and a ninth of “Supernatural.”

”The Vampire Diaries” (Alan Markfield - THE CW)
“Arrow” opened with CW’s best premiere numbers since 2009 and remains the network’s most watched series, averaging more than 4 million viewers.

“The Vampire Diaries” is CW’s highest rated series among 18-34 year olds.

“Supernatural” is so old it even pre-dates CW, having premiered on WB network; CW snagged it when it picked over the carcasses of WB and UPN networks back in 2006. In its eighth season, ageing “Supernatural” was resuscitated when CW paired it with “Arrow,” including a nearly 20 percent hike among 18-49 year old viewers.

In Monday’s news, CW president Mark Pedowitz noted all three shows perform very well for the network, digitally and socially.
