David Letterman talks Michele Bachmann’s “John Wayne Gacy” error

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), addresses a gathering in her childhood hometown of Waterloo, Iowa. (JEFF HAYNES - REUTERS) When Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) officially kicked off her presidential campaign in her birthplace, Waterloo, Iowa, on Monday, saying she had the same “kind of spirit” as fellow Waterloo-ian John Wayne, except the actor was not born there — serial killer John Wayne Gacy Jr. was — some political bloggers called it a “minor gaffe.”

CBS late night host David Letterman felt otherwise.

Sadly, WorldWide Pants hasn’t yet provided an embed of Dave’s comments, but Web site Gawker recorded it.
