“The BET Networks Family is saddened by the news of the untimely loss of our friend and colleague, Corey ‘Megatron’ McGriff,” the Viacom-owned cable network said.
McGriff, who BET says has been part of music show “106 & Park” since 2006 -- mostly as a behind-the-scenes hype man -- and also did brief on-air work for the network and Web site, was killed at 2 a.m. Sunday in New York City.
McGriff, also known as a radio DJ, was shot in the chest as he was on his way to a store, his manager and police told the AP.
