E! cancels Whitney Cummings talk show

Whitney Cummings (E! - TIMOTHY WHITE/E!)
Whitney Cummings’s TV empire just got slightly smaller.

E! says it has telecast its final episode of its late-night talk show “Love You, Mean It With Whitney Cummings,” starring last year’s It Girl — before we all moved on to Lena Dunham.

“Love You,” produced by Chelsea Handler’s production company, only debuted last November. Originally just six episodes were ordered, then six more.

Despite the show’s ability to attract such A-list talk-show guests as Mindy Kaling and Will Ferrell, E! pulled the plug Thursday.

On the bright side for Cummings, her comedy series “Whitney” survived to a second season on NBC, though it’s ratings aren’t great. But she also co-created CBS’s “2 Broke Girls,” which is a bona fide ratings hit.
