Former CNN meteorologist Jacqui Jeras joins WJLA

Former CNN meteorologist Jacqui Jeras has joined WJLA, Washington’s ABC affiliate.

Jeras will be the primary meteorologist for the Allbritton-owned station’s “Good Morning Washington” and “News at Noon”.

During her 13 years at CNN, Jeras forecast, researched, produced and prepared on-camera weather and science segments for CNN’s domestic network. Some of her most notable coverage both in the studio and in the field include Hurricane Katrina, the Joplin EF5 tornado, and “Snowmageddon.”

CNN left the cable news network in May.

“I’m really looking forward to becoming a part of the DC community. And I can’t wait to see snow again!” she said in Friday’s announcement, to which WJLA general manager Bill Lord added, “She’s a smart, credible forecaster with a warm, engaging personality.”

Jeras’s first day at WJLA will be Sept. 5.
