Fox announces celeb diving special featuring JWoww, ‘Real Housewives’

Jennifer "JWoww" Farley (Chris Pizzello - AP)
Two days after ABC announced a midseason celebrity diving competition series, Fox announced its diving special, “Stars in Danger: The High Dive” will debut on Wednesday, Jan. 9.

Because celebrities diving into water is the hot new celebrity competition format. Better than “Dancing with the Stars,” because the C-listers wear far less clothing.

“Jersey Shore’s” JWoww, professional surfer Bethany Hamilton (best known for surviving a shark attack in which her left arm was bitten off), “Baywatch’s “Alexandra Paul, and former child actress siblings turned “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” regulars Kim and Kyle Richards, are among those competing on Fox’s special.

Also signed up are “Baywatch” alum David Chokachi, former NFL wide receiving Terrell Owens, and “Melrose Place” regular Antonio Sabato, Jr.

Based on a long-running German format — now you know who to blame — the eight “celebrities” will compete in a series of Olympic-style dives, including solo high diving and synchronized diving. But first they complete a crash course in diving techniques.
