Fox broadcast network has given early renewals to its serial-killer drama “The Following,” as well as comedies “New Girl,” “Raising Hope,” and “The Mindy Project.”

“The Following,” starring Kevin Bacon (the good guy) and James Purefoy (the bad guy), is this season’s No. 2 rated broadcast drama when DVR-ing up to seven days after broadcast is factored in, Fox noted.

“New Girl” is Fox’s most watched comedy; “Raising Hope” is Fox’s “Rules of Engagement” — plays solid no matter where the network slaps it. “The Mindy Project” early pick-up is more of a mystery.
