Fox's Tuesday afternoon conference call with Jane Lynch was billed as promoting her stint as this year’s Emmy Awards host, but reporters and bloggers on the line couldn't resist peppering the call with “Glee” questions.
Especially when Lynch revealed that besides starring in a pre-taped bit, she wasn't that far along with Emmy plans, and even if she was, she didn't want to reveal anything in advance.
So, in case you were wondering, “Glee” will be stepping away from the guest stars this year, and focusing on the core cast — which hopefully means less crazy convoluted storylines.
“We had a great season last year but we did kind of go all over the place with guest stars,” Lynch said. “We're honing in on the stories of these kids, especially in light of the fact that several of them will be graduating at the end of the year.”
In other “Glee” news, it's highly likely that some of the cast will be involved in the Emmy ceremony in some way. And even better, Lynch says she “probably won't wear a tracksuit,” meaning her grating "Glee" alter ego, evil cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, will sit out for the night when the Emmys air on Sept 18.
