The first of Jimmy Kimmel’s late night shows from Brooklyn have been canceled because of the hurricane barrelling down the East Coast.

As of yesterday, Kimmel had been tweeting about going full-steam ahead with his week of shows in his hometown of Brooklyn, which is scheduled to include guests including David Letterman and Jon Stewart. But Monday afternoon, Kimmel threw in the towel.

“Though it pains us to do it, JKLfrom #Brooklyn tonight is cancelled. I’m disappointed too, but we want you to be safe,” tweeted Kimmel, who usually tapes his show in Los Angeles.

Chris Rock, Kelly Ripa and Alicia Keys were scheduled to be the guests on Monday’s show; no work about Tuesday night’s program, in which the guests include Howard Stern and Tracy Morgan.
