J.J. Abrams talks TV and Scary Sci Fi Fans [Video]

J.J. Abrams -- the writer/director/producer behind the new special effects flick “Super 8” but also the guy behind ABC’s “Lost” and “Alias,” Fox’s “Fringe,” and, yes, even WB’s chick drama “Felicity” -- talked to Jon Stewart on “The Daily Show” Tuesday night about how he does TV.

Turns out, making a TV series is a “giant leap of faith” ( that’s TV talk for ‘no clear plan’) and involves reading a lot of tweets and blog posts written by Scary Sci Fi Fans, to discover plot points you hadn’t even thought of yet, because, he explained, Scary Sci Fi Fans are smart and some of them have a lot of time on their hands.

Oh, and Abrams is maybe the best Stewart straight man so far this calendar year.

You can watch the interview here -- you’ll have to slog or scroll through a few minutes of “Super 8” blah, blah, blah, before they get down to talking TV:
