Jon Stewart and John Oliver compare American vs. British media

“The Daily Show” American anchor Jon Stewart, and its Brit correspondent John Oliver compared news media in their respective countries on Monday night’s show.

In one corner: U.S. media outlets allegedly paying the parents of accused daughter-murderer Casey Anthony big bucks for the use of home photos and videos of the dead child – money used to help fund Casey’s defense.

In the other corner: NewsCorp’s News of the World tabloid allegedly hacking into the voicemail of 13-year-old murder victim Milly Dowler, deleting messages when her voicemail got filled up, giving her family and police false hope that she was still alive. Also in News of the World’s repertoire: alleged hacking of the phones of soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan and trying to hack into phones of 9/11 victims.
