Katie Couric’s last day anchoring the “CBS Evening News” will be May 19, CBS News confirmed.
Couric announced her exit from the show — after months of speculation — on April 26, with no word about her future plans. Her contract with CBS ends June 4.
A week later, CBS made it official that longtime “60 Minutes” correspondent Scott Pelley would take over for Couric, starting June 6.
Couric is still mum on her next job, but hinted at a daytime talk show in an interview with PBS’s Tavis Smiley the day she announced her departure.
“I think I’m looking forward to doing what I think I do best,” Couric said. “...Interacting with people, interviewing people, having sort of more extended conversations.”
