Nearly 20 percent of TV homes in our market were watching the competition at any given minute, which puts us in company with San Francisco and Sacramento, according to Nielsen.

Washington’s NBC-owned WRC reports it averaged 719,000 viewers in primetime during the London Summer Olympics — up from its average of 670,000 during the Beijing Games — and the typical household in Washington watched an average of 25 hours of the competition from London.
