Longtime ‘60 Minutes’ commentator Andy Rooney hospitalized

Andy Rooney (AP - AP)
CBS News reported late Tuesday its longtime “60 Minutes” commentator Andy Rooney had been admitted to a hospital after developing “serious complications” following minor surgery last week.

The network added that the 92-year-old Rooney was in stable condition but, at deadline, declined to provide any additional details “at the family’s request.”

It’s been less than a month since Rooney appeared on CBS’s long-running Sunday newsmagazine to deliver what he said would be his last regular commentary for the program, ending a gig that started in ’78.
