Meredith Vieira sticks with NBC, joins Brian Williams at primetime newsmagazine

Former “Today” co-host Meredith Vieira had been in talks to stay with NBC in some form when she left the morning news show this spring, and Wednesday, the network made it official. Vieira will join Brian Williams’s new primetime newsmagazine as a special correspondent.

The newsmag, which we just found out this week will be called “Rock Center with Brian Williams” (yes, seriously), is expected to debut later this season.

In addition to “Rock Center,” Vieira will also report for “Today,” “NBC Nightly News” and other network programs, including coverage of the 2012 London Olympic Games.
