No ratings love for Mimi Alford on ‘Rock Center’

“Rock Center” is getting into the “get” business. But Meredith Viera’s first-get interview with Mimi Alford, in which she discussed her version of her relationship with President John F. Kennedy in 1962, did not attract mobs to the NBC newsmagazine, which recently moved to Wednesday night.

In her new book, “Once Upon A Secret,” Alford says she and the president began an affair her fourth day on the job at the White House. Wednesday night, only 5.3 million people cared. To put that in perspective: 19 million people sat glued to “American Idol” Wednesday night to find out details about some young woman’s plunge off the stage during the Fox singing competition’s grueling Hollywood-in-Pasadena Week. And, another 13 million tuned in to ABC’s ensemble comedy “Modern Family” — more interested in learn details of Greg Kinnear’s business relationship with Ty Burrell’s character, Phil.
