Rick Klein has been named Political Director at ABC News.
He will oversee the news operations political unit, lead its digital efforts around politics, and help steer the network’s coverage of major news events on all platforms.
ABC News president Ben Sherwood, who made the announcement Wednesday, noted Klein helped guide the division’s political reporting on campaigns and political battles in Washington. Klein also was a key member of the editorial team that produced two of the most watched Republican primary debates.
When Martha Radditz was picked to moderate the one Veep debate, Klein played Paul Ryan during mock-debate prep, capturing “virtually every rhetorical point and personal mannerism — except for gulping water,” Sherwood snarked.
