Super Bowl to stream live online for the first time ever

For those who wish they could watch the Super Bowl from their phone, your wish is granted — for the first time ever, the big game will be available live online and on certain mobile devices, in addition to television.

NBC airs the Super Bowl on Feb. 5 from Indianapolis, and will also stream the game on NFL.com and NBCSports.com. Verizon users will be able to watch via NFL Mobile, NBC added in its announcement on Tuesday.

It’s nothing too new for NBC, though. The network has been streaming its Sunday night football games for several years, and usually average about 200,000-300,000 streams, according to the Associated Press, with around 21 million watching on TV. Last year’s Green Bay Packers-Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl clocked 111 million viewers.
