TNT puts second-season ‘Dallas’ episodes online before JR funeral

Larry Hagman (SVEN HOPPE - EPA)
TNT is making the first six episodes of “Dallas” available online.

In theory, the online episode viewing will get more people to jump back in to the show in advance of  episode No. 7 — in which Larry Hagman’s J.R. Ewing character finally hands in his dinner pail.

(In real life, Hagman, 81, died last November at a Dallas hospital of complications from cancer.)

When the basic cable network’s reboot of the broadcast-TV soap came back for a second season in January, only 3 million people tuned in — a series low and quite a plunge compared to the nearly 7 million who’d caught its first-season unveiling last July.

In “Dallas'” March 11 episode — called "J.R.'s Masterpiece" — the Ewing clan reels upon hearing of J.R.'s death, and is even more shocked to learn the cause, TNT promises.  Goody!
