TV Land plans tribute to Sherman Hemsley

In honor of Sherman Hemsley, who died Tuesday at age 74, TV Land will pay tribute to the actor with a marathon of “The Jeffersons” this weekend.

Helmsley played the famous George Jefferson character on the series, which ran from 1975 to 1985. He also played a deacon/lawyer on the 1980s sitcom “Amen,” and had roles on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and “Love at First Bite.”

TV Land will air Hemsley’s most memorable episodes from “The Jeffersons” this Saturday, July 28, from noon to 4 p.m.
