While waiting for State of the Union ratings, a look at past numbers

How many people watched President Obama’s State of the Union address last night? We’ll have the numbers later today, but for comparison’s sake, these are the total viewer numbers from the last four presidential addresses:

Obama’s State of the Union 2011: 42.8 million

Obama’s State of the Union 2010: 48 million

Obama’s Address to the Joint Sessions of Congress 2009: 52.4 million

President George W. Bush’s State of the Union 2008: 37.5 million
