TLC released a trailer Friday for an Atlanta-based reality show featuring wives of ministers.
Set to debut New Year’s Day, “The Sisterhood” is focused on women known in their churches as the “first lady,” a term used within many evangelical circles out of respect for the role they play, a cultural icon.
TLC is the home for the immensely popular “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” about a child beauty pageant participant and her family as well as “Breaking Amish” about Amish and Mennonite youths and “Sister Wives,” a show about a Fundamentalist Mormon polygamist family in Utah.
In a preview provided to People, five women describe what it’s like living in the Bible Belt and being married to a pastor, issues from their past and things they confront today such as maintaining healthy sex lives with their husbands.
People.com reports that the preachers’ wives “argue, get tattoos, work out to look hot and talk openly about sex, drugs and their not-so-godly pasts in a series certain to shake the Bible Belt.”
