Newsweek’s #Muslimrage draws ire, humor

Newsweek’s cover story featuring angry Muslim men under headline “Muslim Rage” prompted many people to take to social media to show their support or skepticism about the magazine’s coverage of recent events in the Middle East and north Africa. A video denigrating Islam’s prophet Muhammad has stirred outrage throughout the Muslim world.

#Muslimrage was one of the buzziest hashtags Monday on Twitter, inspiring #MormonRage and #IndianRage.

“This week’s Newsweek cover accurately depicts the events of the past week as violent protests have erupted in the Middle East (including Morocco where the cover image was taken),” said Andrew Kirk, public relations director at Newsweek and the Daily Beast, Politico.com reported.
