On Thursday, Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan is expected to deliver a speech about poverty during a tele-townhall meeting.

Organized by the Faith and Freedom Coalition, the event features the Wisconsin congressman and Ralph Reed, founder of the grassroots organization. Reed is a conservative strategist who has influenced voter turnout among evangelicals since the late 1980s. At the group’s annual meeting this summer, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, via video, spoke social issues and the economy.

Reed’s group has launched what he calls “largest voter registration, voter mobilization and get-out-the-vote effort ever targeted at evangelical voters” to help Romney and Ryan.

The tele-townhall organized for Faith and Freedom Coalition members and supporters begins at 6 p.m. EST. To participate, call 877-229-8493 and enter passcode 18595.

UPDATE 6:07 p.m. : Executive director Gary Marks said after 6 p.m. that the presidential tele-townhall featuring Paul Ryan, has been rescheduled. Another date wasn’t announced. This is the second time in four days the event has been reschedule.

The group has been distributing 15 million voter guides to churches this year. The guides are “are nonpartisan and don’t advocate for any candidate,” Marks said.

“We are on our way of making 125 million voter contacts,” he said Thursday night about this eelection cycle and the efforts of volunteers and supporters.
