Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman (I) recently sat down for an interview with On Faith’s Sally Quinn to talk about the reasons why the Sabbath, a weekly day of rest mandated by the Ten Commandments, is so important to him.
Among them: “One of the great opportunities in life, and in a sense, a commandment, is to be with the person you love and that includes intimate sexual relations,” the senator says in the interview.
“The rabbis have been pretty clear in interpreting that ‘you ought to be doing this more often, but if you’re not for some reason the other six days of the week, be with your spouse on the Sabbath.’”
Lieberman is the author of a new book, The Gift of Rest.
