George Allen announced Tuesday that he raised more than $1.4 million in the first three months of the year for his U.S. Senate race and has nearly $2.66 million in the bank.
The former Republican governor and senator has been consistently outraised by Democrat Tim Kaine, who announced Tuesday morning that he received more than $2.2 million in the first three months of the year and had more than $4.4 million cash on hand.
Kaine, a former governor and chairman of the Democratic National Committee, has raised $7.4 million. Allen has raised $6.7 million.
The three other Republicans who are running in the U.S. Senate primary in June have not released their fundraising totals for the quarter. They are: tea party activist Jamie Radtke, Del. Bob Marshall (Prince William) and Bishop Earl Jackson.
Through Dec. 31, Radtke had taken in $516,000, while Jackson reported raising $96,000. Marshall recently jumped into the race and has not reported any fundraising numbers yet.
