Del. Rob Bell, a Charlottesville area Republican running for attorney general next year, had a hefty $604,127 in the bank as of Dec. 31, according to the Virginia Public Access project, a nonpartisan tracker of money in politics.
Bell will likely face Sen. Mark Obenshain, who has about $65,000 cash on hand in two accounts, and Fairfax County Clerk of Court John Frey had $1,000 in the bank, according to VPAP.
A huge chunk of Bell’s money comes from transfers from his delegate’s account and leadership political action committee.
“I am very pleased to get off to such a strong start,” Bell said. “I am grateful to the generosity of the many people who are supporting me and my campaign.”
