Funeral arrangements for Jamerson announced

Bruce F. Jamerson, whose death this week stunned lawmakers after two decades as Clerk of the Virginia House of Delegates and Keeper of the Rolls of the Commonwealth, will be buried Thursday in Suffolk.

The family will receive visitors at Bliley’s Funeral Home, 3801 Augusta Ave. in Richmond on Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., according to an announcement on the General Assembly’s Web site.

A private burial will be held Thursday in Suffolk.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bon Air United Methodist Church,1645 Buford Rd. in Richmond.

Jamerson’s body was found Monday beside the James River in Powhatan County. He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, officials said. He was 53.

Jamerson’s death shocked the state’s political establishment, including the state legislators he served every day.
