Lingamfelter has filed paperwork with the State Board of Elections to raise money for the 2013 race.
He joins fellow Prince William County Republican Corey A. Stewart in the race for the GOP nomination. Stewart, chairman of the Board of County Supervisors, jumped into the race in April.

Pete Snyder, chairman of the GOP’s VA Victory 2012, the Republicans’ coordinated campaign, reportedly also is considering a bid.

On the Democrats’ side, Aneesh Chopra, the former White House chief technology officer, is widely expected to run for the position.

Other Democrats being mentioned as candidates for lieutenant governor are: former House minority leader Ward L. Armstrong (Martinsville) and Del. Kenneth Cooper Alexander (Norfolk).

The incumbent, Lieutenant Gov. Bill Bolling (R), is running for governor.
