Gov. Robert F. McDonnell (R) and members of Virginia’s congressional delegation will tour Hampton Roads by helicopter Monday morning to
survey the damage caused by Hurricane Irene.
Later, they will speak privately with Hampton Roads officials and hold a news conference at Camp Pendleton in Virginia Beach.
McDonnell (R) will be joined by Reps. Rob Wittman, Randy Forbes, Scott Rigell, all Republicans, and Bobby Scott (D).
As of early Monday morning, state emergency officials estimated that 639,000 customers in Virginia were still without power, mostly in the Richmond and Hampton Roads areas.
Almost 100 people remained in 15 shelters across the state.
