Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell will headline a fundraiser Thursday night for fellow Republican Rep. Mike Pence, who is running for governor in Indiana.
The event will be held at the McLean house of Fred Malek, a longtime
Republican donor and activist who heads McDonnell’s government reform commission.
McDonnell, chairman of the Republican Governors Association, frequently helps raise money for candidates across the nation.
Indiana Democrats criticized Pence Thursday for having the event with McDonnell and Malek in the Washington suburb.
“I guess elite D.C. creatures are just more comfortable out there,” said Indiana Democratic Party Chair Dan Parker. “It’s much harder to come back to Indiana and face the woes of working Hoosiers who are struggling to find jobs and making less money than their fellow Americans.”
