Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell has left for a quick trip to Ireland and England — his seventh overseas trade mission.
McDonnell (R) departed Sunday and will return Wednesday. The estimated cost is $92,000.
He will attend the Farnborough Airshow, an international trade fair for the aerospace industry in England, to promote the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing and the supply chain for Rolls-Royce. He first attended the airshow in 2010, and the Paris Airshow in 2011. Six companies joined CCAM as a result of meeting with the governor at previous airshows, according to his office.
In Dublin and London, he will hold economic development meetings and talk to government officials.
Eleven people are going on all or part of the trip, including Secretary of Commerce Jim Cheng, Secretary of Technology Jim Duffey and Secretary of Agriculture and Trade Todd Haymore.
