First lady Michelle Obama canceled two campaign appearances in Virginia on Friday because of the movie theater shooting in Colorado.
Obama had been scheduled to appear in Charlottesville and Fredericksburg, but President Obama’s campaign issued a two-sentence statement Friday morning saying those were off.
“In light of the tragedy in Colorado, the First Lady's events in Virginia today will be canceled,” it said. “President Obama will address the tragedy in Aurora, Colorado in remarks in Ft. Myers, Florida this morning.”
At least a dozen people were killed and dozens more wounded when a gunman opened fire at the midnight opening of the new Batman movie.
