New Crossroads ad in Virginia blasts Obama attacks

Virginia should get ready for a double negative: a negative ad blasting — you guessed it! — negative ads.

American Crossroads, the Karl Rove-advised super PAC, goes on the air Friday with an ad criticizing President Obama for his ads attacking Mitt Romney’s business record. It quotes news reports critical of the ads.

“What happened to Barack Obama?” the voice-over begins. “The press and even Democrats say his attacks on Mitt Romney’s business record are ‘misleading, unfair and untrue.’ ‘Blowing smoke.’ ‘Too far.’ ‘No evidence.’ ”

The ad goes on to say that Obama is airing those TV spots to divert attention from his own record on government spending and the economy.

American Crossroads is spending $9.3 million to air the ad in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio and Virginia. Of that, $996,000 will be spent in Virginia.
