New Virginia PAC promotes conservative women

A new political action committee has formed to promote conservative women candidates in Virginia, according to the Virginia Public Access Project, a non-partisan tracker of money in politics.

Donors to VIRTUSpac so far include Jeannemarie Devolites Davis, who runs Gov. Bob McDonnell’s Washington office and is considering a run next year for lieutenant governor and Gerarda Culipher, who unsuccessfully ran against Sen. Chap Petersen (D-Fairfax) in 2011, according to the State Board of Elections.

Several groups already advocate for Democratic women or women who support abortion rights, including the Farm Team and the Women’s Strike Force, which formed earlier this year.

“We welcome them to the fight,” said Susan S. Platt, founding member of the Farm Team. “Imitation is the greatest form of flattery.”
