Peanuts, ham and barbecue on the line in Virginia Tech-Clemson game

No pressure, Virginia Tech. But when the Hokies faces Clemson in the ACC championship Saturday, the commonwealth will have more than peanuts on the line.

If Virginia Tech goes down, Gov. Robert F. McDonnell will have to shell out for Virginia Diner “Hokie Nuts” and a Smithfield ham to make good on a bet with South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.

If Clemson loses, Haley will have to fork over South Carolina barbecue from Hudson’s Smokehouse.

The governors shook on their friendly wager Wednesday at the Republican Governors Association meeting in Orlando, where McDonnell was reelected chairman.
