U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was a big draw at the Fairfax County Democratic Committee’s fundraiser Sunday night.
The event raised hundreds of thousands of dollars, more money than any other event the group has hosted, according to committee chairman Cesar del Aguila.
More than 500 people attended. Attendees included Reps. Jim Moran (D-Va.), Gerry Connolly (D-Va.), likely gubernatorial nominee Terry McAuliffe and a slew of state legislators.
The dinner, formerly known as the Jefferson Jackson dinner, was renamed the Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt Dinner. The couple’s great granddaughter, Anna Fierst of Maryland, attended.
Pelosi spoke about Virginia’s distinction as a battleground state and the importance of building the Metrorail extension to Dulles International Airport.
