Obama, Republican rival Mitt Romney and their high-profile surrogates have spent lots of time in the battleground state, which Obama pulled into the Democratic column in 2008 for the first time since 1964.

Romney and Michelle Obama visited Virginia on Thursday, with the former Massachusetts governor appearing in a Fairfax park and the first lady in Richmond and Fredericksburg. That was one day before Romney’s running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, and one of Romney’s sons headed for the commonwealth.

Ryan appeared in Roanoke on Friday, while Craig Romney was scheduled to hold a “meet and greet” at Romney campaign offices in Prince William County and Arlington.
