Terry McAuliffe, the former Democratic National Committee chairman running for Virginia governor, announced additional campaign co-chairs Monday.
They are: Del. David J. Toscano of Charlottesville; Del. Mark Sickles of Fairfax; Commonwealth’s Attorney Shannon L. Taylor of Henrico; and Del. Mark L. Keam of Fairfax.
McAuliffe last week announced the initial members of his co-chairs team, which included Rep. Gerry Connolly and state Senate Minority Leader Richard L. Saslaw of Fairfax.
McAuliffe, who golfed over the weekend with President Obama and former President Bill Clinton, has been lining up high-profile Democratic supporters as former Democratic congressman Tom Perriello reportedly has been mulling a run for the party’s nomination.
On the Republican side, Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli II (R) and White House party crasher Tareq Salahi are running to succeed Gov. Robert F. McDonnell (R), who is barred by the state constitution from seeking back-to-back terms. Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling (R) dropped out of contention for the Republican nod last week.
“I’m honored to be joined by so many distinguished leaders from across Virginia who share my dedication to creating jobs and growing our economy through common sense solutions,” McAuliffe said in a statement.
