Is the third time the charm?
On Thursday, the House of Delegates introduced a third two-year $85 billion budget.
Del. Lacey Putney, (I-Bedford), chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, asked the GOP-controlled chamber to allow the budget to be re-introduced by unanimous consent.
“It is clear that budget making, budget crafting, rests with us,’’ he told his colleagues.
House Democrats voted for the request after Minority Leader David Toscano (D-Charlottesville) said delegates always give their colleagues the same courtesy even if they oppose the bill.
Majority Leader Kirk Cox (R-Colonial Heights) said he expects the appropriations committee to approve the budget Thursday afternoon. The full House would debate the budget Friday and it would head to the Senate on Monday.
