Virginia’s top public safety officials planned to tour the tornado-damaged cities of Hampton and Petersburg on Monday.

Secretary of Public Safety Marla Decker and Michael Cline, state coordinator of emergency management, will meet with local officials and view damage from Friday’s tornadoes.
A total of 500 homes, apartments and businesses were damaged in Hampton, where a twister touched down about 7:08 p.m. Friday, and Petersburg, which was struck about 8:13 p.m. Minor injuries were reported.
