Virginia sells itself in Chinese and Korean

Wondering how to say “George Washington” in Chinese?

A tutorial is provided in this Chinese-language video selling Virginia as a business and tourist definition, released Wednesday in conjunction with Gov. Bob McDonnell’s ongoing trade mission to Asia.

A companion video in Korean is also being released this week.

We don’t speak either of those languages. But based on the video’s pretty pictures--and information released by the Virginia Department of Business Assistance, which produced the video along with other state agencies--it seems the sales pitch includes Virginia’s deep water port, its international airport in Dulles, its proximity to Washington, D.C. and its top-notch university system.

Anyone out there who does speak Chinese or Korean should let us know what they think about the narrators’ comments about our fine Commonwealth in the blog’s comments section.
