Jim Webb helps Va. Democrats in key Senate races

Look who’s joined the party.

U.S. Sen. Jim Webb, who is not exactly known for his love of campaigning, is appearing in TV ads for Democrats as they try to retain control of their fragile majority in the state Senate next week. (Check out his ad for Sen. John Edwards of Roanoke below.)

The state’s senior senator has headlined events for Edwards, Sens. Toddy Puller (Fairfax), Dave Marsden (Fairfax) Ed Houck (Spotsylvania), Phil Puckett (Russell), Ralph Northam (Norfolk) and Senate candidate Barbara Favola in Arlington.

Webb will appear at a series of Northern Virginia events this weekend when Democrats rally voters to get out the vote for Tuesday’s election.

Sen. Mark Warner is also appearing in a flurry of ads, and he and the state’s former Democratic National Committee chairmen, Tim Kaine, now a candidate to replace Webb, and Terry McAuliffe, a probable gubernatorial candidate, have held dozens of events across the state.
