What you can buy for $350,000

We know a lot of you out there don’t have a half-million to spend on a house. You want something more affordable. And as we know, in this market, that’s not easy.

But we were determined to find a mix of properties that can be had for $350,000 or less. And just like in our “What you can buy for $500,000” we wanted to select a variety of dwellings for sale in and around the Beltway to give you an idea of the types of homes that can be purchased in a price range.

We were pleasantly surprised by what we found. There’s a four-bedroom, 2 1 / 2-bath home in Bowie, a one-bedroom condo in a building with a pool in Old Town Alexandria, a three-bedroom, three-bath duplex in Sterling and a one-bedroom condo in the heart of Adams Morgan in Northwest Washington.

We are going to look at different price points in the coming weeks, so be sure to check back if this isn’t the price range you’re interested in. We hope this feature helps you better gauge what you can afford as well as what matters most to you when buying a home. Are you willing to give up a little extra space to have a closer commute? Or do you need a big back yard?
