Wizards at Bobcats: Game 57 discussion thread

For one of those rare instances this season, the Wizards will face an opponent that is in a worse position in the standings. The Wizads (12-44) are in the midst of their fourth losing streak of at least five games this season, but Charlotte (7-47) has lost 11 in a row as the two teams meet for the third time this season.

The Bobcats have all but locked up finishing with the league’s worst record. The Wizards would have to lose the rest of their 10 games and John Wall has already expressed a desire to “win them all.”

In order to end their current skid, the Wizards will probably need to get off to a better start. In their past five losses, they have allowed their opponents to score an average of 29 points in the first quarter.

“It’s imperative for us to have a good start, both offensively and defensively,” Coach Randy Wittman said. “For us to be at our highest octane, especially with the injuries that we have, we have to be in transition. And to be in transition, you have to get stops. We can’t be taking it out of the basket. We have to come out and take the bull by the horns early.”

The Wizards will be without Nene and Trevor Booker for the fifth game in a row, giving Kevin Seraphin another chance to continue his improved play at center. James Singleton will also get more opportunity to convince the team to give him another 10-day contract. Cartier Martin was just given another 10-day contract on Sunday.
