Nene and JaVale McGee will face their ex-teammates nearly 10 months after they were swapped for each other in a deadline deal last March. Nene expects to be overcome with some emotion his first game as a Denver Nuggets opponent at Pepsi Center

Nuggets Coach George Karl said he considers Nene a friend and hopes to sit down and have dinner with him in five or 10 years. “It always bitter sweet to trade a guy but we felt that was a trade that had to be made,” Karl said. “We wish him the best except for tonight.”

Nene will get some support in the form of Jordan Crawford, who will return after missing the past four games with a sore left ankle. Crawford had been playing with the injury since Nov. 3, but Coach Randy Wittman said he has made progress and moved around well in the past two workouts.

“I thought he looked good, had good bounce to him. He says he’s feeling much better,” Wittman said. “He’ll come off the bench as he always has and provide us with that spark that he can do for us. Nothing is going to change for how we use him prior to the injury.”
