If the Wizards hope to end a five-game losing skid against the Detroit Pistons, they will have to do it without Nene. The Brazilian big man was a game-time scratch with a sore right shoulder and Coach Randy Wittman elected to give Trevor Booker his first start since Nov. 14.

Booker started the first seven games of the season, averaging 8.1 points and five rebounds in those contests. Nene developed his shoulder problems after absorbing several hard hits last week. He sat with an ice pack over his right arm in the second half of the Wizards’ 90-84 victory on Monday over the Toronto Raptors.

The Pistons (22-37) have won the three games against Washington by a combined 52 points this season. Detroit has lost four out of five games since defeating the Wizards, 96-85, on Feb. 13.
